Sir Arthur C. Clarke - was a world-renowned mathematician and physicist, novelist, and ex-chairman of the British Interplanetary Society. A prolific author of both fiction and nonfiction, he won multiple literary awards, was nominated for an Academy Award, and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
The Origin Thought
Arthur C. Clarke helped define two frontiers of the modern world: global satellite communication and the moral imagination of intelligent systems.
His work on geosynchronous orbit — now known as the Clarke Belt — reshaped how humanity connects across the planet. But in the novel, 2001: A Space Odyssey, he explored a deeper question: what happens when intelligent systems operate beyond relational governance?
HAL 9000 was not irrational.
HAL was mission-aligned — and misaligned with humanity.

Our founder had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Clarke on multiple international satellite communication initiatives. Dr. Clarke's thinking influenced not only orbital mechanics and infrastructure design, but also a generation of engineers who understood that advanced systems demand humility.
The same mind that helped architect global communication also imagined HAL.
The warning was not about intelligence.
